The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), proudly announced the implementation of the Outbound Specialist Student Exchange Program in Conservative Dentistry at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from May 13 to 18, 2024. This program was specially designed for students of the Specialist Program in Conservative Dentistry (PPDGS), allowing them to participate in lectures, clinical case seminars on restorations and endodontics, and hands-on sessions at UKM for one week.

As a leading university in Malaysia, UKM offers exceptional facilities and a distinguished curriculum in Conservative Dentistry. This initiative aims to enhance the academic, clinical, and experiential knowledge of PPDGS students.

Program Implementation

The exchange program spanned one week, during which participants engaged in:

  1. Expert Lectures from UKM faculty members.
  2. Case-sharing Seminars involving students from PPDGS USU and the Department of Restorative and Endodontics at UKM.
  3. Clinical Practice and Observational Learning in Specialized Clinics.
  4. Cultural Activities hosted by UKM foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.
  5. Collaborative Research Opportunities with ongoing projects at UKM.

PPDGS students gained insights into managing diverse patient populations and foreign clinical practices through clinical observation.
