The event featured a distinguished speaker, Drg. Muhammad Novo Perwira Lubis, Sp.RKG is a lecturer and dental radiology expert from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Trisakti. He is widely known for his contributions to advancing radiographic imaging technology in Indonesia.

The event opened with remarks that expressed appreciation for Drg. Novo’s presence emphasized the importance of understanding the latest radiology technologies—especially CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)—in supporting modern dental practice.

In his engaging and practical presentation, Drg. Novo explained that CBCT is not merely a complementary diagnostic tool, but a critical component in precise dental treatment planning. This technology produces high-quality three-dimensional images, offering a comprehensive view of a patient’s anatomy, which is difficult to achieve with conventional radiography.

“CBCT is not just an aid but an integral part of modern clinical practice. It enables us to understand the patient's condition more comprehensively, leading to more accurate clinical decisions,” he explained.

Drg. Novo outlined how the CBCT workflow can be systematically integrated, from patient data collection and radiographic image analysis to formulating a 3D-based treatment plan. To demonstrate their application, he presented real clinical cases, particularly in implant procedures, complex endodontics, and orthognathic reconstruction.

Drg. Wandania Farahanny, Sp.KG. Subsp.KR(K), MDSc, moderated the lecture, enriching the discussion by bridging radiology technology concepts with modern conservative dentistry practices.

An active Q&A session followed, with students enthusiastically posing critical questions about technical challenges, costs, and the future potential of CBCT in clinical practice. The vibrant academic atmosphere reflected the strong interest of FKG USU students in dental technology advancements.

“This lecture helped us better understand how technology can enhance the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment,” said one student attendee.

This event directly benefited students, not only in terms of theoretical knowledge but also through practical insights applicable to their future clinical careers. The hope is that FKG USU students will become dental professionals who are academically competent and adaptive to technological advancements in dentistry.

As the session concluded, Prof. Drg Trimurni Abidin, Sp.KG. Subsp.KE(K), M.Kes, expressed appreciation to Drg. Muhammad Novo Perwira Lubis, Sp.RKG and all active participants. She also reaffirmed FKG USU’s commitment to continually present high-quality speakers and provide inspiring learning environments that align with future professional demands.
