The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and the Unhas Teaching Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGMP) have agreed to work together in developing the tri dharma of higher education. This agreement was signed by the Dean of FKG Unhas, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, Sp.BM (K)., M.Kes, Dean of the USU Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, and Director of RSGMP Unhas, drg. Andi Tajrin, Sp.BM(K), M.Kes, virtually on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Dr. Muhammad Ruslin welcomed this activity as an effort to continue the friendship and collaboration established by seniors from the two universities, namely Unhas and USU, which are located at the West and East ends of Indonesia. The goal is to build an atmosphere of professionalism among dentists for a more advanced Indonesian society. Dr. Muhammad Ruslin also thanked the USU Faculty of Dentistry for the willingness to renew the MoA, this time by involving RSGMP Unhas in this cooperation agreement.

"We hope that with this MoU we can receive information and assistance from FKG USU for the development of FKG Unhas and RSGMP Unhas. Conversely, FKG Unhas and RSGMP Unhas are very open to sharing with FKG USU regarding the development of the tri darma of higher education," said Muhammad Ruslin.

On the same occasion, Dr. Essie Octiara expressed her gratitude to FKG Unhas for continuing this MoA and hoped that this collaboration could strengthen the relationship and run smoothly and provide benefits to all parties, especially in realizing the tri darma of higher education, namely in the fields of education, research, and community service.

Meanwhile, Andi Tajrin said that it is time to collaborate, especially for hospital development. "One thing that worries all hospitals in Indonesia is accreditation. This is very important in relation to the new law that has been passed by the House of Representatives," he said.

Furthermore, Andi Tajrin added that hospitals cannot carry out education at the Teaching Hospital (RSP) or RSGMP if the hospital is not the highest accredited, which is plenary, and is designated as an educational hospital. "We from RSGMP Unhas, which has been accredited with plenary and has been designated as a Teaching Hospital by the Ministry of Health, will support USU RSGM. We also open ourselves to all to collaborate for the progress of RSGMP," he said.

This collaboration is expected to improve the quality of education, research, and service to the community, as well as strengthen the relationship between the two faculties and the teaching hospitals involved.
