The "Pengambilan Sumpah Dokter Gigi Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU)" in the academic year period 2021/2022 took place on January 16, 2022. The event was held semi-online at the Nazir Alwi Hall, FKG USU, and was led by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KG, assisted by a religious figure. All newly appointed dentists received the oath in a solemn atmosphere.
The FKG USU Choir enhanced the ceremony by performing the song "Karena Cinta" (Because of Love). A video showcasing the journey of the dentists during their education at FKG USU was also screened, adding an emotional touch to the inauguration process. In her address, the Dean emphasized the importance of continuous learning and enhancing skills through advanced education such as Master's and Specialist programs.
Representatives from the Medan City Health Office, Mrs. Muthia Nimphar, and MARS attended the event. They highlighted that dental diseases still rank among the top 10 diseases at health centers. The newly inaugurated dentists were encouraged to make significant contributions to preventing and treating dental diseases in society.
Representing the teaching staff of FKG USU, drg. Ariyani, Sp.Pros(K), stressed the importance of resilience, perseverance, and empathy towards others as dentists. With their professional title, it is hoped that these dentists will make a significant moral contribution, not only financially but also through their professionalism in the field of dentistry and support for government health programs in oral health.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of awards to the top three dentists inaugurated: drg. Annisa Maisaroh, drg. Dicky Guntara, and drg. Rahma, presented by Vice Dean I, Dr. drg. Olivia Hanafiah, Sp.BM(K). In her remarks, drg. Rahma expressed gratitude to all FKG USU faculty members and hoped that the knowledge gained could be applied wisely for the common good.
