Dental Science

Doctoral Program

The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Doctoral Program in Dental Science is the highest level of study in dentistry in higher education. The program is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the practice of dentistry as well as a robust scientific foundation in this field. The main objective of the Doctoral program in Dental Science is to produce graduate experts in dentistry who can develop the latest scientific and technological concepts through research and have leadership skills in developing research programs.

The vision of this study program is "To become a center for doctoral education in Dental Science that produces graduates with research excellence in the field of natural resources based on natural materials and globally competitive." Graduates of the USU Doctoral Program in Dental Science are expected to be able to fill the gap between academic research and practical applications in improving the quality of dental health services globally. Students who complete this study program will earn a Doctoral degree (Dr.).

History

2009

The Doctoral (S-3) Program in Dental Science was established through the Decree of the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara No. 934/H5.1.R/SK/2009, on May 11, 2009, concerning the formation of the Doctoral Program in Dental Science at Universitas Sumatera Utara.

2011/2012

The Doctoral Program started in 2011/2012 in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry of USU. The committee for preparing the proposal for the Faculty of Dentistry Doctoral Program consisted of Prof. drg. Ismet Danial Nasution, Ph.D., Sp.Pros.(K); Prof. drg. Trimurni Abidin, M.Kes.,Sp.KG.(K); Prof. drg. Haslinda Z Tamin, M.Kes.,Sp.Pros. (K); Dr. Drg. Ameta Primasari, M.DSc; and drg. Eddy Dahar, M.Kes. Dr. Drg chairs the Study Program. Ameta Primasari, drg.,M.DSc with the Secretary of the Study Program is Prof. drg. Sondang Pintauli, Ph.D. The number of students in the first batch was nine people, the second batch was 12 people, and the third batch was five people.
