FKG USU, 9/11 - On November 9, 2023, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) had the great honor of inviting World Class University Top Scientist, Dato' Professor Emeritus Dr. Hashim Yaacob, FRCPath(UK), FDSRCS(Eng) Ad Eundem, FDSRCPS(Glasg), former Rector of University Malaya, as the keynote speaker in an event held on their campus.
drg. Nurdiana Sp.PM, who acted as the moderator, also attended the event. In her speech, Drg. Nurdiana expressed her excitement for the presence of Dato' Professor Emeritus Dr. Hashim Yaacob, also known as the Icon of Cooperation between the USU Faculty of Dentistry and the University Malaya Faculty of Dentistry since 1987.
Prof. drg. Ismet Danial Nasution Ph.D., Sp.Pros., Subsp.PKIKG(K), a professor of FKG USU, was also present as a friend and beneficiary of the collaboration between the two universities. He warmly welcomed the arrival of Dato' Professor Emeritus Dr. Hashim Yaacob, who has been a source of inspiration and knowledge for students and staff of FKG USU for many years.
This event's topic was “The Challenge of Managing Facial Pain.” In his presentation, Dato' Professor Emeritus Dr. Hashim Yaacob provided an in-depth insight into the challenges of managing facial pain, opening students' eyes to dentistry's various scientific and clinical aspects.
During the Q&A session, it was revealed that one of the event's highlights was when Dato' Professor Emeritus Dr. Hashim Yaacob shared his history. He mesmerized the audience by reciting a poem composed by himself, adding a deeply personal touch to the event.
This event is a place to gain new knowledge and valuable momentum to strengthen the relationship between FKG USU and University Malaya. With more than three decades of cooperation, the two universities continue to be committed to improving the quality of education and research in dentistry.
