The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) continues demonstrating its commitment to providing globally competitive education through its flagship initiative, the Top Scientist Program. This time, FKG USU welcomed a world-renowned scientist, Professor Emeritus Dr. Hashim Yaacob, FRCPath(UK), FDSRCS(Eng) Ad Eundem, FDSRCPS(Glasg), currently the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at SEGi University, Malaysia. The event took place at the Nazir Alwi Room at FKG USU and featured two insightful sessions delivered directly by Prof. Hashim.
In the “Microscopic Pathology: Safety in Cellular Integrity” session, Prof. Hashim emphasized the importance of maintaining cellular integrity at the microscopic level in dental and general medical practice. He introduced various innovative approaches and the latest technologies that support safe, accurate, and high-standard pathology practices. His presentation went beyond theory, offering practical insights that enriched participants’ understanding of critical aspects in diagnostics and clinical decision-making.
In the second session, “Taking Institutions to the Next Level,” Prof. Hashim shared his strategic experiences in leading and transforming higher education institutions to an international level. He highlighted the significance of global collaboration, investment in human resource quality, and leveraging technology in academic management. This session provided valuable perspectives on how a faculty can evolve into an adaptive and visionary center of academic excellence. The event was moderated by Drg. Aida Fadhilla Darwis, M.DSc., was attended by students, lecturers, and dental practitioners from within and outside FKG USU. The atmosphere was engaging and enthusiastic, particularly during the Q&A session, showcasing a strong learning spirit and openness to new ideas.
