The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) once again held a special event in a series of World Class University (WCU) programs. This time, the event presented Prof. Kei Tomihara, DDS, Ph.D., a leading expert from Niigata University, Japan. The activity, held on June 19, 2024, took place hybrid, combining physical presence in the Nazir Alwi Room of the USU Faculty of Dentistry with virtual participation from Niigata, Japan.
Prof. Kei Tomihara is widely recognized as one of the leading experts in the field of dentistry. With extensive experience and research published in international journals, Prof. Tomihara brings a new perspective to dental care and research. His lecture is part of FKG USU's commitment to continuously improve the quality of education and research through collaboration with world-class experts.
This activity was held hybrid, allowing participation from various locations. Participants who attended the Nazir Alwi Room of the USU Faculty of Dentistry could interact directly with Prof. Tomihara, while other participants could follow the lecture online from various places. This approach demonstrates how technology can be used to extend the reach of education and improve access to knowledge.
This lecture was moderated by drg. Hendry Rusdy, M.Kes., Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.C.O.M(K), who serves as the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of FKG USU. With his extensive experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, drg. Hendry ensured the discussion went smoothly and in-depth. He also played an important role in bridging questions from the participants to Prof. Tomihara, thus creating a productive and useful discussion.
Prof. Tomihara delivered a lecture on innovation and recent research in dentistry. He discussed various technological and methodological advances in dental treatment and recent research results that could potentially change how dental treatment is performed. The material presented was very relevant to the latest developments in dentistry and provided new insights for the participants.
The event received a very positive response from the participants. Enthusiasm can be seen from the many questions asked and the discussions that took place during the question-and-answer session. Participants felt they gained much new knowledge to apply in their daily practice and research.
