The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) celebrated its 62nd Anniversary with a festive event held at the FKG USU Main Field on Sunday (12/11). Various activities were presented, including competitions, bazaars, dedications, and blood donations. This anniversary was especially interesting due to the presence of the Dean of University Malaya Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Zamri bin Radzi.
The excitement of this anniversary was also increased by the appearance of a band from the capital city, Pilot Band, who performed their favorite songs and special performances from students and the USU FKG community.
The activities began with remarks from the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. Drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA (K) and represented the Rector of USU, Vice Rector III Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt and at the same time opened the activity which had previously been carried out aerobic gymnastics for participants in the 62nd Anniversary of the USU FKG which was attended by civitas, alumni students and the general public who were present. Another activity is a bazaar that displays various creative products from MSMEs in the field and FKG USU students. Visitors can enjoy multiple foods, unique trinkets, and student artwork on display with enthusiasm.
In addition, the anniversary committee also organized social service activities as a form of concern for the surrounding community. FKG USU students were actively involved in various activities, such as dental health counseling and free health checks.
The competition became one of the event's magnets. Various competitions were held, ranging from scientific poster competitions to research competitions to scientific writing competitions. FKG USU students showed their competitive spirit and love for dentistry through active participation in this competition.
Not only that, in the spirit of caring for public health, this event also became a momentum to hold a blood donation. Students and academicians of FKG USU jointly participated in this activity to positively contribute to the community in need.

Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA (K) expressed her appreciation for the active participation of alumni, students, and the entire academic community in enlivening the 62nd Anniversary. “Hopefully, the spirit of togetherness and dedication in this activity can continue to be improved and have a positive impact on the surrounding community and the world of dentistry at large,” said Dr. Essie.
The 62nd Anniversary of FKG USU is not only a historical moment to celebrate the faculty's long journey in providing quality dental education but also a tangible manifestation of FKG USU's commitment to making a positive contribution to society.
