Reaffirming its commitment to building strategic partnerships in education and research, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Faculty of Medicine, Helvetia Institute of Health (FK IKH). The event took place warmly at the FKG USU campus, marking the beginning of a new chapter in collaboration between two leading health institutions in North Sumatra.

Leaders from both institutions attended the signing ceremony. Representing the Helvetia Institute of Health were Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Deli Theo, Sp.PK, M.Kes, and the Head of the Dentistry Program, drg. Budi, Sp.Perio and other academic staff. They were warmly welcomed by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K) and her leadership team.

In a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration, both faculties signed an agreement that outlines cooperation in several key areas:

  • Curriculum development and quality enhancement in medical and dental education
  • Collaborative research and scientific publications
  • Capacity building through training and faculty exchange
  • Joint community service programs

In her remarks, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara stated that the partnership represents a strategic step for FKG USU to broaden its positive impact in implementing the university's three pillars (education, research, and community service), particularly in inclusive teaching and community engagement.

“We believe that synergy between health education institutions like this will lead to innovation, strengthen the capabilities of faculty and students, and create a mutually supportive academic ecosystem,” she said.

Echoing her sentiment, Dr. dr. Deli Theo expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and hoped that this partnership between FK IKH and FKG USU would go beyond formalities and be realized through concrete, sustainable initiatives.

A follow-up discussion was held following the signing ceremony to formulate a joint activity agenda shortly. Some proposed programs include joint faculty workshops, inter-institutional scientific seminars, and collaborative research on public dental health.

This collaboration is expected to become a model of productive partnership between higher education institutions, enhancing academic reputation, graduate quality, and tangible contributions to society.

This collaborative step reaffirms FKG USU’s position as an open and active institution in forging partnerships to advance science and improve the quality of dental education in Indonesia.

With a spirit of collaboration, innovation, and integrity, FKG USU continues to expand its academic cooperation network, opening doors to share, learn, and grow together.
