Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIKes) Helvetia Medan visited the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, to explore opportunities for collaboration in education and research. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the two institutions and enhance the quality of healthcare education in North Sumatra.
The STIKes Helvetia delegation, led by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, was warmly welcomed by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA(K). During the meeting, both parties discussed various collaboration opportunities, including faculty and student exchange programs, joint research initiatives in dentistry, and community service programs.
“We see great potential in establishing a partnership with FKG USU. The quality of education and expertise in dentistry at USU is highly relevant to support the development of our educational programs at STIKes Helvetia,” said Dr. Maria Simanjuntak.
Dr. Rahma Siregar, Dean of FKG USU, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative. “We are very open to collaborating with STIKes Helvetia. This partnership will benefit both institutions, particularly in strengthening research and developing human resources in the health sector,” she stated.
The visit concluded with a tour of FKG USU’s facilities, including clinical laboratories, simulation rooms, and lecture halls. Further discussions on the next steps of this partnership will be held in an upcoming official meeting.
This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of education and healthcare services, especially in dentistry, ultimately benefiting the community.
