The Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) is excited about signing a pioneering service contract. Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA.Subsp.PKOA(K), directly signed the contract with lecturers who will carry out this pioneering service program.

Dr. drg. Essie Octiara emphasized the importance of community service as one of the main pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education at the event held in the Nazir Alwi Room of the USU Faculty of Dentistry. “We are very committed to making a real contribution to society through various community service programs. This pioneering scheme is expected to be an example and inspiration for other lecturers in carrying out innovative and impactful community service,” she said.

This pioneering service program will involve several lecturers from various departments at the Faculty. They will work together on projects designed to provide real solutions to oral health problems in the community. These projects include school dental health education, counseling on the importance of maintaining oral health, and free dental check-ups and treatment services for the underprivileged.

One of the lecturers involved, Dr. drg. Indra Gunawan, M.Kes., expressed his pride in being part of this program. “This service is a tangible manifestation of our dedication as academics. Through this program, we hope to provide significant benefits to the community, especially in areas where access to health is still limited,” he said.

The signing of this contract is the first step in a series of activities that will be carried out over the next year. Hopefully, this pioneering service program will not only bring positive changes to the community but also increase the competence and experience of lecturers in community service.

With a spirit of togetherness and high dedication, FKG USU is determined to continue to innovate and make the best contribution to society. “We believe that through this pioneering service, we can create meaningful and sustainable changes for public health,” concluded Dr. drg. Essie Octiara.
