FKG USU, 7/9—The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) celebrated a historic moment today with the official signing of the pioneering research groups for the Basic Research and Young Lecturer Research Schemes. This signature marks FKG USU's commitment to supporting high-quality research in dentistry and facilitating the professional development of young lecturers.
This important event was attended by lecturers who committed to joining the newly formed pioneer research group with the dean. Dr. Drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA, Dean of FKG USU, kicked off the event with a speech emphasizing the importance of research in scientific development.
Among the lecturers who successfully received the research funds were drg. Ami Angela Harahap Sp.KGA.Subsp-AIBK (K)., M.Sc, drg. Luthfiani M.DSc, drg. Teguh Aryo Nugroho MDSc., Sp.Ort., Subsp.DDTK(K), and drg. Febby Revita Sari M.DSc.
“Research is the foundation of any progress in dentistry. With this Basic Research and Young Lecturer Research Scheme, we are committed to providing support and opportunities to our young lecturers to develop their potential in scientific research,” said Professor.
This pioneering research group consists of several young lecturers who are selected through a rigorous process based on the quality of their research proposals. The selected young researchers will receive research funding, access to the best research facilities, and mentorship from experienced senior lecturers.
The scheme has also received positive support from various parties, including the local government, local dental practitioners, and the academic community. This collaboration is hoped to expand the impact of the research generated and advance dental health services in the region.
The young lecturers selected for this group expressed their enthusiasm. One of the group members, said, “This is an important step in our career as lecturers. We are grateful to FKG USU for this opportunity and are committed to producing high-quality research.”
The signing ceremony concluded with official signatures by members of the newly formed pioneering research group, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and the senior lecturer who will be their supervisor. This moment marks the beginning of a promising research journey and the development of advanced dentistry at the Faculty.
The Basic Research and Young Lecturer Research Scheme at FKG USU is expected to make a valuable contribution to improving dentistry and dental health in North Sumatra and inspire other educational institutions to support young lecturers' research.
