FKG USU officially opened the International Dental Conference Sumatera Utara 2024, a prestigious international conference held over two days, December 6–7, 2024, carrying the theme “Enhancing Skills and Knowledge of Aesthetic Dentistry.” The conference opened in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm and pride in local culture. The performance by Komunal Primitif Percussion, a music group blending traditional North Sumatran rhythms with modern touches, captivated hundreds of participants from both domestic and international backgrounds.
The highlight of the opening was symbolically marked by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA. Subsp.PKOA(K), and the Chair of the Committee, Dr. drg. Erliera, Sp.Ort., Subsp.DDTK(K), who beat a traditional drum together. This drumbeat signaled the start of the conference and symbolized harmony, cross-cultural collaboration, and unity within the field of dentistry.
In her remarks, Dr. Essie expressed pride and appreciation to all the committee members and participants:
“This conference is an important moment to bring together experts from various countries to share knowledge, explore the latest innovations, and broaden global perspectives in aesthetic dentistry. Hopefully, this conference will catalyze advancing science and practice in oral and dental health,” she stated.
