A total of 4 Indonesian Telemedicine Engineers attended a one-month training invitation from August 16 to September 8, 2023, at the Telemedicine Development Central of Asia (TEMDEC) Kyushu University Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan.

The training participants were members of the Indonesia Telemedicine Engineer. One of the engineers was Agung Laksana from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and the other three were Poggy Indra Aditya from Dr. Moewardi Solo Hospital, Lukman Harun from Dr. Kariadi Semarang Hospital, Dwi Basuki from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sriwijaya Palembang. During the training, they were guided by Shintaro Ueda, PhD (Research Lecturer), Yukiko Hisada, PhD (Research Assistant Professor), and Saori Matsuda (Engineer).

The trainees were directly involved as engineers in the 56th Asia Pacific Advance Network (APAN56) held online and hosted by APAN56 Colombo, Sri Lanka. They were also invited to try the equipment and technology owned by TEMDEC and see the 21 surgical rooms complete with advanced technology at Kyushu University Hospital.

In 2008, the Telemedicine Development Center of Asia (TEMDEC) was established to provide engaging and effective distance education involving interactive discussions in various medical fields, where medical institutions in different countries are connected via the Internet. Since its establishment, TEMDEC has deepened cooperative relationships with medical professionals and engineers worldwide. It has supported many distance education programs, such as international webinars, case conferences, and live demonstrations of advanced surgery and endoscopy. In this way, TEMDEC has helped share up-to-date medical knowledge and accumulated the experience of experts in various medical fields. TEMDEC is also actively involved in remote medical consultations around the world. TEMDEC is currently led by Tomohiko Moriyama, MD, PhD (Director Associate Professor, Vice Director of International Medical Department Kyushu University Hospital), Kuriko Kudo, PhD (Vice Director Lecturer), (https://www.temdec.med.kyushu-u.ac.jp/)

Participants became not only trainees but also trainers on how to use broadcasting and design software. At the end of the session, the participants submitted their reports from the program to TEMDEC.
