December has arrived, and the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) is getting ready to close the series of National Dental Health Month (BKGN) events that took place throughout the month. On December 20, 2023, the atmosphere of the FKG USU campus was so festive, with typical decorations that illustrate the spirit of oral health.
At 19.00, the main meeting room of FKG USU was filled with academicians, students, and invited guests who were present to witness the closing of BKGN. The stage was decorated with colorful shades, and the spotlights that highlighted the stage added a vibrant feel.
The closing ceremony was opened by a report from the Chairperson of the BKGN 2023 Committee, Dr. drg. Erliera, Sp. Ort(K). With great enthusiasm, she conveyed the results of activities during the month-long BKGN event. Various activities such as dental health seminars, social services for free dental examinations, and competitions involving FKG USU students have been successfully carried out.
After the committee report, it was the turn of the Dean of FKG USU, Dr.drg. Essie Octiara, Sp. KGA, Subsp.PKOA(K), to give a speech. She appreciated the hard work of the committee and all the students who had contributed to the success of BKGN 2023. Dean Essie Octiara also emphasized the importance of oral health awareness in realizing a healthy and quality society.
Not only that, the closing ceremony was enlivened by the performance of students representing each department at the Faculty of Dentistry USU. They performed creative and entertaining stage acts while conveying messages about the importance of maintaining dental health. Dances, musical dramas, and various interesting performances made the closing of BKGN even more memorable.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the Best Category. A tense and hopeful atmosphere colored the evening. The students who had participated in various competitions and performances eagerly awaited the judges' assessment results. The announcement of Best Performance, Best Costume, and Favorite Performance was greeted with loud applause.
That night became a historic moment for FKG USU, where the academic community gathered to celebrate and magnificently close the National Dental Health Month. This closing event is not only an entertainment event, but also a momentum to continue educating the public about the importance of oral health. Hopefully, this spirit and enthusiasm will continue to grow and have a positive impact on the dental health of the surrounding community.
