To raise public awareness about the importance of oral health, the RSGM FKG Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) successfully organized National Dental Health Month from 02 to 04 October 2024. The event offered free services that included tooth extraction, cavity treatment, and scaling, with the primary goal of providing the community with better access to dental health.

This event is a significant highlight given Indonesia's high prevalence of dental health problems. According to data from the Ministry of Health, around 90% of Indonesians experience oral problems, and most do not receive adequate care. In this context, RSGM FKG USU is committed to improving public dental health through more accessible services.

Quality Services from Medical Professionals

During the three-day event, dental professionals, including dentists, students, and medical volunteers, dedicatedly provided services. The community enthusiastically took advantage of this opportunity, ranging from children to adults, all receiving equal attention in their dental health care. Necessary tooth extraction, cavity treatment, and scaling were performed to a high standard, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

A senior dentist at RSGM FKG USU emphasized the importance of such activities. “We want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get proper dental care. Oral health is integral to general health, and we strive to educate the public about this.”

Public Education and Awareness

In addition to the healthcare services, the event also featured educational sessions designed to increase the community's understanding of good dental care. During the sessions, participants were taught about proper brushing, flossing, and eating habits that can affect dental health. This education encourages people to apply this knowledge daily and be more proactive in maintaining their oral health.

The importance of education lies in maintaining clean teeth and preventing more serious health problems in the future. “With a better understanding of dental health, we hope people can take proper preventive measures and no longer neglect their oral health,” added the senior dentist

Gratitude and Hope for the Future

This National Dental Health Month activity would not be possible without the support of various parties, including the government, health organizations, and volunteers. We want to thank all those who have contributed to the success of this event. The active participation of the community is also greatly appreciated, as it shows a growing awareness of the importance of dental health.

In closing, RSGM FKG USU hopes that activities like this can continue and become a routine agenda to improve public dental health. “Let's take care of our dental health together for a better quality of life. We are committed to always providing the best service and continuous education for the community,” concluded the senior dentist.

With collaborative efforts and increased awareness, it is hoped that the quality of dental health of the Indonesian people can improve in the future.
