In an effort to improve the quality of medical education, professors and students of the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a joint meeting known as "GJM and GKM FKG USU." This meeting was held on Monday, January 24, 2024, in the main hall of the USU Faculty of Dentistry.
GJM (Quality Assurance Group) and GKM (Student Family Association) FKG USU gathered lecturers, administrative staff, and student representatives for this meeting. The meeting aimed to develop strategic steps to improve the quality of dental education at the university.
One of the main points discussed in the meeting was improving laboratory and research facilities. The professors expressed the importance of having up-to-date equipment and facilities to support research and teaching in dentistry. In this case, GJM and GKM agreed to submit a proposal to improve the university's facilities.
In addition, the meeting also discussed innovations in teaching methods and curriculum. GJM provided the latest information regarding the development of dental science that needs to be integrated into the curriculum. At the same time, student representatives voiced their expectations regarding the increased use of technology in the learning process.
This meeting is also a place for open discussion between lecturers and students to listen to aspirations and unite views regarding the steps that will be taken to achieve better quality education. GKM FKG USU is committed to being actively involved in implementing the improvement steps taken by the academics.
"With the synergy between lecturers and students, we are sure that FKG USU can continue to develop into a superior center for dental education with international standards," said the Chairperson of GKM FKG USU.
The GJM and GKM FKG USU meeting ended with an agreement to form a special working group to focus on implementing the agreed strategic steps. The university fully supports these efforts and hopes that the results can positively impact the quality of dental education at FKG USU.
