On May 15, 2023, the Specialist Program in Periodontics (PPDGS) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) was preparing for the accreditation process of the program. In this regard, LAM PTKes sent assessors Prof. Dr. drg. Sudibyo, SP.Pero(K) and Dr. drg. Yanti Rusyanti, M.Kes., Sp.Perio(K) to FKG USU.
During their visit, a series of assessment activities were conducted, including the opening session, a presentation of the PPDGS Periodontics program, a presentation of physical evidence, visits to the RSGM (Dental Teaching Hospital) and the UJI Laboratory at FKG USU, and interviews with academic staff, students, and administrative staff. These activities were carried out to evaluate the PPDGS Periodontics program as part of the accreditation process.
The two-day event focused primarily on evaluating the campus facilities. A particularly interesting moment arose during the visit to several facilities at FKG USU when Prof. Sudibyo expressed his desire to build a similar facility, such as the UJI Lab at FKG USU, in his home region, Yogyakarta, where he lives and serves the community.
The Dean of FKG USU expressed his support for achieving optimal results for the PPDGS Periodontics program and warmly welcomed the assessors, treating them as honored guests. Dr. Yanti Rusyanti also shared her appreciation for the warm hospitality, stating that she felt welcomed like family, including the delicious meals that made her joke about gaining weight.
The assessment session was the focal point, as the assessors presented their findings to the attendees. PPDGS Periodontics took the opportunity to clarify some issues that they believed were misinterpreted, which resulted in adjustments to the assessment results. Behind the evaluative feedback, the assessors provided valuable suggestions to improve the PPDGS Periodontics program.
The event concluded with a group photo and a shared meal, further strengthening the bond between the two parties.
