The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), proudly held the Outbound Student Exchange Program in Conservative Dentistry with the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from May 13–18, 2024. This program aims to prepare PPDGS (Specialist Dentistry Program) students in Conservative Dentistry to be highly qualified and globally competitive.

As part of the program, FKG USU students participated in the 2nd International Symposium on Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, hosted by UKM's Faculty of Dentistry. With the theme "Frontiers in Dentistry: Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship," this symposium is a crucial platform for introducing new ideas, fostering innovation, and strengthening international collaboration in dentistry.
The symposium featured:
- Research Project Presentations by dentistry students.
- Judging Sessions led by UKM faculty members.
- Poster Presentations from leading universities in Indonesia and Malaysia's Ministry of Health.
PPDGS FKG USU students participated in the Oral Presentation Literature Review and Case Report competition, competing alongside postgraduate students from UKM's Faculty of Dentistry. Remarkably, they secured 5 awards out of 6 nominations, demonstrating their academic excellence in research and presentation.

In addition to competing, PPDGS FKG USU students had the opportunity to:
- Engage in campus and clinic visits at UKM's Faculty of Dentistry, gaining valuable insights into dental practice internationally.
- Stay updated with the latest research, innovation, and entrepreneurship developments in oral health.
