Medan, September 23, 2023 - The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) celebrated a historic moment by inauguring a new Reading Room equipped with modern facilities. This inauguration was made more meaningful because the Student Parents Association (POM) in 2021 contributed 100 million Rupiah to improve the FKG USU library collection and facilities.
The symbolic handover of the donation was carried out emotionally at the FKG USU branch library on September 22, 2023. The 2021 POM Chairperson, Eka Adhayani S, drg, and the POM board, enthusiastically carried out this event. The event was also attended by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA. Subsp.PKOA(K), and the Head of USU Library, Laila Hadri Nasution, S.Sos., M.P., as well as staff, students, and other interested parties.

Subsp.PKOA(K), in her speech, stated, “The library is the heart of education, and with the inauguration of this new Reading Room, we are committed to providing a better learning environment for the students of FKG USU. The generous donation from POM in 2021 will help us achieve this goal.”
The IDR 100 million donation from the 2021 POM will enrich the library collection with more diverse educational resources, including the latest books and up-to-date scientific journals. These funds will also be used to upgrade the library's facilities, including technology and equipment updates.
Head of the USU Library, Laila Hadri Nasution, S.Sos., M.P., welcomed the donation and said, “The FKG USU Library will work hard to ensure that this donation will provide maximum benefits for library users. We will continue to strive to provide the best service to the students and academic staff of FKG USU.”
The inauguration of this modern Reading Room is a positive step in improving the quality of education at the USUKG. The spirit of cooperation between POM 2021, the USU ECG, and the USU Library is a clear example of the commitment to advancing higher education and helping students achieve greater heights.
