The Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Muryanto Amin, inaugurated Dr. Essie Octiara, drg., SpKGA, as the new Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG). This inauguration concerned the death of Prof. Dr. Trelia Boel, drg., M.Kes., Sp. RKG (K), who died at the beginning of her term.
Rector Muryanto Amin expressed his deep sense of loss at Prof. Trelia's passing and prayed that the deceased would get the best place by his side. To Dr. Essie Octiara, the rector hopes that she can work optimally, especially in encouraging campus internationalization.
"Work according to the mandate and full of responsibility. Dean of faculty is a position that requires commitment, sacrifice, hard work, and great responsibility in its implementation," said the rector.
The Rector asked Dr. Essie to spur the faculty's performance and achievements in achieving USU's main target, which is to become an international standard university. "Of course, this task is not an easy one. It requires a common vision and mission as part of a large university team," he added.
The Rector emphasized the importance of cooperation and commitment in devoting full time, energy, and thoughts to faculty management. This is expected to achieve the highest level of performance and make FKG a barometer of favorite dental education in Indonesia.
In addition, the rector advised Dr. Essie to build extensive networking and be adaptive to technological advances. The Chancellor also emphasized the importance of making the Merdeka Learning Campus program a success, supporting accreditation, and contributing optimally to USU's ranking in various ranking agency assessments, both national and international.
The inauguration was also attended by USU Vice Chancellors, namely Vice Chancellor I, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, Vice Chancellor II, Muhammad Arifin, M.Si, Vice Chancellor III, Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, Vice Rector IV, Prof. Opim Salim Sitompul, and Vice-Rector V Luhut Sihombing, M.P.
