The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), in collaboration with Pepsodent Indonesia, organized a teledentistry service as part of the National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2024 program. This collaboration took place from October 2 to 4, 2024, providing an opportunity for the community to get remote dental consultation services designed to be more accessible without having to visit the clinic directly.
This collaboration is a commitment of FKG USU and Pepsodent Indonesia to expand access to dental health services, especially for people in remote areas or with limitations in visiting health facilities. Through the teledentistry platform, people can consult directly with dentists about oral health problems and receive initial treatment recommendations from medical professionals.
Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA. Subsp.PKOA(K) expressed her appreciation for the collaboration. “We appreciate the collaboration with Pepsodent Indonesia, which allows the implementation of teledentistry services in this BKGN. This collaboration is in line with the vision of FKG USU to expand the reach of dental health services for the wider community, which is certainly very beneficial,” said Dr. Essie.
The Dean added that this collaboration also opens up educational opportunities for the community to maintain oral health. “In addition to providing easy access to consultation, this collaboration is also important to raise awareness of the importance of dental health, which, if managed early on, can prevent more complex health problems in the future,” she explained.
Pepsodent Indonesia, as a strategic partner in implementing BKGN 2024, also expressed its support. Pepsodent stated that collaboration with FKG USU is an essential step towards realizing an Indonesian society that is more aware of the importance of oral health.
Through this collaboration, FKG USU and Pepsodent hope that the community can continue to feel the real benefits of dental health services while supporting the realization of a healthier society in the future.
