To broaden the academic community’s scientific insight, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) once again held a Guest Lecture program by inviting international academician Dr. Trinette C. Colina, DMD, MHPED from the College of Dentistry, Adventist University of the Philippines.

 

In the guest lecture held at the Nazir Alwi Room, FKG USU, Dr. Trinette presented a topic titled “Strip Off Crowns Made Easy from the GP.” The material discussed practical and efficient crown removal techniques that General Practitioners can apply in everyday dental practice.

In her presentation, Dr. Trinette emphasized the importance of a safe yet straightforward approach to enhance patient comfort and clinical time efficiency. She also shared firsthand experiences and clinically proven techniques.

 

“Methods that are easy yet precise can increase efficiency without compromising the quality of patient care,” said Dr. Trinette in front of the participants. The event was enthusiastically attended by students, lecturers, and dental practitioners. As moderator, drg. Atika Resti Fitri, M.Sc., created an interactive and enjoyable atmosphere, opening space for deep and curious discussions.

The Q&A session became a key moment during which participants could discuss clinical challenges, alternative techniques, and procedures tailored to local conditions in Indonesia directly with the speaker. In her remarks, the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K) expressed her appreciation for Dr. Trinette’s presence and affirmed the importance of international collaboration in promoting dental education and healthcare services.

 

“Today’s topic is highly relevant and applicable to daily clinical practice. We hope the knowledge shared will serve as a practical provision for participants in delivering the best care,” said Dr. Essie. This Guest Lecture is essential to FKG USU’s academic agenda in realizing its vision as a leading institution in dental education at both national and international levels. Events like this are expected to be held regularly to create a global knowledge exchange that will impact professional development in Indonesia. Through this program, FKG USU affirms its position as a proactive campus that provides access to cutting-edge knowledge from global experts.
