Participants of the International Summer Course Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) 2024, had an unforgettable experience in the City Tour held on October 22, 2024. This activity aimed to introduce participants from various countries to the rich culture, history, and cuisine of Medan City.
The tour began by bypassing the magnificent Maimun Palace and the historic Al Mashun Grand Mosque. Participants were invited to enjoy the architectural beauty of these two landmarks, which reflect Medan's cultural heritage.
Afterward, the participants continued their journey to Jalan Kesawan, where they could enjoy the Car Free Day atmosphere. Here, they interacted with local residents and sampled a variety of culinary specialties offered by street vendors. “The atmosphere on Jalan Kesawan was very lively! I enjoyed the food and the uplifting music,” said Maria, a participant from Germany.
The activity continued with a visit to Pos Blok, an iconic place in Medan centered on culture and community. Here, participants were invited to understand the city's history and development better and interact directly with local artists.
The City Tour allowed participants to get to know historical places and experience the daily life of the people of Medan. “This experience is precious. I learned a lot about Medan's culture and traditions,” said Ahmad, a participant from Malaysia.
With the success of this City Tour, it is hoped that the participants of the International Summer Course FKG USU 2024 will bring back good memories and a more profound knowledge of Medan City's beauty and diversity.
