The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) kicked off a series of National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2023 events with enthusiasm today, December 18, 2023. This activity is scheduled to last for three days until December 20, 2023, and is a major highlight in the national dental health calendar.
At the opening of the event which was held in the slasar of the main building of the Faculty of Dentistry USU, the presence of the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si., who gave full support to the activity was seen. Also present was the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp. KGA, Subsp.PKOA (K), along with the academic community of FKG USU.
The opening ceremony of BKGN 2023 was not only an official ceremony but also a stage to showcase the diversity of culture and art. Traditional Malay dance performances mesmerized the invited guests, while archipelago dances also adorned the stage with nuances of the beauty and richness of Indonesian culture.
The culmination of a series of opening events for BKGN 2023 ended with a symbolic ribbon-cutting procession by the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, and the Dean of the USU Faculty of Dentistry, Dr.drg. Essie Octiara. The two figures simultaneously inaugurated the start of BKGN 2023 activities at FKG USU.
As the opening ceremony, the event continued with a review of the Free Dental Treatment (FDT) location, where the general public can get free dental health services. This activity is expected to provide tangible benefits to the surrounding community and provide a deeper understanding of the importance of dental health.
In his speech, USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin stated, “BKGN 2023 is not only an exhibition and celebration event but also a form of USU Faculty of Dentistry's commitment to increasing public awareness of the importance of dental health. I hope this activity can positively impact and improve healthy lifestyles for the surrounding community.”
For the next three days, FKG USU has prepared various interesting activities such as dental health seminars, workshops, and other educational activities to educate the public about the importance of maintaining dental health. BKGN 2023 at FKG USU is expected to be an effective vehicle to spread information and increase public awareness about the importance of maintaining dental health for a better future.
