The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) has officially opened the 19th National Working Meeting (RAKERNAS XIX) of the Indonesian Dental Student Senate Association (PSMKGI) for 2025. This moment marks a significant milestone for FKG USU as the host and for all dental students across Indonesia participating in this national forum.

The opening ceremony was steeped in both national and cultural pride. Delegates were warmly welcomed with traditional dances from North Sumatra, followed by the resonant sounds of the national anthem Indonesia Raya, Bagimu Negeri, the Universitas Sumatera Utara March, and the PSMKGI March, all igniting a strong spirit of unity.

The solemn atmosphere continued with a Qur’anic recitation and a collective prayer, a spiritual opening to this major national student organization event.

The ceremony’s vibrancy was matched by addresses from key figures who have contributed to the PSMKGI journey. Opening remarks were delivered by:

  • Ikrar Teguh, SKG – Chairperson of the Committee and Governor of FKG USU
  • Ahbid Dian Maulana, SKG – Secretary General of PSMKGI
  • Drg. Wahid Khusairi, MM – Chair of the Alumni Association (IKA) of FKG USU
  • A representative from the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office

The highlight of the opening ceremony was marked symbolically by the striking of the gong by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K), accompanied by distinguished guests. The echoing sound of the gong officially signaled the start of the RAKERNAS XIX PSMKGI 2025 agenda. “We are proud to host this major forum. RAKERNAS is not merely an administrative gathering—it is a strategic platform for unifying vision, building networks, and shaping the future of the dental profession through the voice of students,” said Dr. Essie in her remarks.

One of the most memorable moments of the opening was the grand parade of delegates from 31 faculties of dentistry across Indonesia. Each delegation marched in wearing traditional attire or institutional attributes, showcasing the rich cultural diversity and shared professional unity.

The warm applause and enthusiasm of the audience accompanied each entering group, creating a celebratory and proud atmosphere.

The 19th RAKERNAS PSMKGI is expected to be a productive forum for discussion and strategic decision-making for the organization’s development. The agenda includes evaluations of PSMKGI’s performance, formulation of national work programs, education policy discussions, and strengthening the role of students in supporting national dental health services.

“We hope this Rakernas results in impactful programs, fosters nationwide synergy among dental faculties, and enhances students’ roles in advancing public health in Indonesia,” expressed one of the delegates.
