The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), opened a new Specialist Dentist Education Program (PPDGS) in Oral Surgery. This step was taken in response to the increasing need for specialization in oral surgery on the island of Sumatra, especially in the North Sumatra region, and FKG USU's efforts to continue improving the quality of education and oral health services in Indonesia.
The Oral Surgery Study Program of FKG USU is the only one on the island of Sumatra. A total of eleven participants took the PMB (New Student Admission) selection exam for PPDGS Oral and maxillofacial Surgery, which included a theoretical exam with a CBT system, an OSCE practical exam, an interview, and a series of other exams. They are the first batch to participate in this selection; this year's quota is only six participants.
This new program has undergone various stages of careful preparation, including research and needs analysis, comprehensive curriculum development, and adequate resource preparation. The curriculum has been adjusted to national and international standards, ensuring that graduates will be highly competent and ready to contribute to the world of health.
