The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) welcomed the arrival of new students for the 2024/2025 academic year by holding an intensive and comprehensive briefing event in preparation for the start of the Campus Life Introduction Program for New Students (PKKMB). The event was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2024, and aimed to equip new students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a dynamic academic environment and campus life.
All new FKG USU students attended this activity, which amounted to over a hundred MABA. They received an in-depth introduction to the academic culture at FKG USU, ranging from professional ethics and lecture systems to non-academic activities that can support self-development. New students were also allowed to learn more closely about the various student activity units (UKM) available at the faculty, which are expected to help them find a community that suits their interests and talents.
The debriefing event was also supported by the Faculty's partner, Bank Mandiri, who was present to give a presentation on banking services that are relevant to students. Bank Mandiri introduced products and services that can facilitate student financial transactions, such as opening student accounts, e-banking facilities, and other financial services designed to support student needs during the study period.
In addition, this event also presented a psychologist who provided material about leadership. This session aimed to develop new students' soft skills, especially leadership and self-management. The psychologist discussed the importance of effective leadership in academic and everyday life and provided practical tips to hone these skills early on.
This activity provides a strong foundation for new students undergoing their studies at FKG USU. With the support of the academic community, partners, and experts, FKG USU hopes that new students can start their academic journey with optimal readiness and contribute positively to the campus environment. PKKMB, which will begin the following week, is expected to deepen the new students' introduction to campus life and prepare them to face the challenges ahead with confidence and enthusiasm.
