The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), officially entered into a strategic partnership with the Faculty of Dentistry of the Institute of Health Sciences (IIK) Bhakti Wiyata Kediri on Friday, November 8, 2024. The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed in Bali, represented by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K), and the Dean of FKG IIK Bhakti Wiyata Kediri, drg. Afrida Nurmalasari, M.Kes.
Both institutions agreed to strengthen collaboration in education, research, and community service, focusing on advancing dental science. This partnership is expected to positively contribute to improving the quality of dental health professionals in Indonesia and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology between the two faculties.
“This collaboration is an important step for us in expanding networks and enhancing the quality of dental education and services. Through this partnership, we hope to develop innovations and research that jointly impact society,” stated Dr. drg. Essie Octiara.
Dean of FKG IIK Bhakti Wiyata Kediri, drg. Afrida Nurmalasari, M.Kes., also expressed her appreciation for the partnership. According to her, collaborating with FKG USU opens significant opportunities for sharing experiences to improve educational standards and deliver integrated dental healthcare services. “This is a promising first step in building a strong foundation for sustainable collaboration,” she said.
The MoA signing marks the beginning of various collaborative programs, including joint seminars, student internship opportunities, and cooperative research and technology development in dentistry.
