In celebration of its 63rd Anniversary, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), held a meaningful community service event that reached directly into the lives of residents. This year’s outreach occurred in Durin Serugun Village, Sibolangit Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency.
This activity, which was infused with a spirit of giving and service, reflected the core values of compassion, social responsibility, and academic contribution that FKG USU upholds beyond the boundaries of campus life.
One of the main programs was an oral health education session at SD Negeri Ujung Deleng. The FKG USU community service team provided interactive education on the importance of maintaining oral hygiene from an early age.
The students enthusiastically participated, listening to the materials and practicing proper tooth brushing techniques. This engaging session was a long-term investment in cultivating healthy habits and raising children’s awareness about oral care.
"We hope that through this educational effort, the children will grow with a better understanding of dental health and become a more conscious and healthy generation," said one of the presenters from the FKG USU team.
In addition to education, FKG USU also distributed basic food packages to residents of Durin Serugun Village. These aid packages were targeted at needy families as a tangible gesture of empathy for the economic hardships many are facing.
This initiative reinforced FKG USU’s social commitment to fostering harmonious relationships with local communities while delivering real and immediate benefits.
