The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) proudly announced the presence of Navy Lieutenant Colonel (Dental) drg. Suryanto Purba, Sp.Pros., as a speaker at the Alumni Empowerment event to prepare students for the workforce. This event, which carried the theme "The Contribution of Dentists as Career Officers to National Resilience," was attended in person by FKG USU graduates about to be inaugurated as dentists.
Navy Lieutenant Colonel (Dental) drg. Suryanto Purba, Sp.Pros., an alumnus of FKG USU who currently serves as a middle-ranking officer in the Indonesian Navy, shared valuable experiences and insights about dentists' roles and contributions in the context of national resilience. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of professionalism, discipline, and dedication in pursuing a career in the military and civilian sectors.
This event aimed to provide a real-world picture of the workforce to students and graduates, and to prepare them for future challenges. Participants had the opportunity to learn directly from the experience of a successful career officer who has made a career in the military while continuing to work as a dentist.
"In the workplace, especially in a military environment, national resilience depends not only on physical strength but also on the health and well-being of personnel. Dentists play an important role in ensuring this," said Navy Lieutenant Colonel (Dental) drg. Suryanto Purba, Sp.Pros. in his presentation.
The Vice Dean I of FKG USU, Dr. drg. In her remarks, Olivia Avriyanti Hanafiah Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.C.O.M. (K) expressed her appreciation for the presence of Navy Lieutenant Colonel (Dental) drg. Suryanto Purba, Sp.Pros. She hoped that the graduates could take inspiration and motivation from the experience and knowledge shared.
"This event is part of FKG USU's efforts to always support and prepare our students to be ready to compete and contribute in the workforce. We thank Navy Lieutenant Colonel (Dental) drg. Suryanto Purba, Sp.Pros. for sharing his valuable knowledge and experience," said Dr. Lili, as she is affectionately called.
With events like this, FKG USU hopes to continue producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also ready to face the dynamics of the workforce with high integrity and dedication.
