On November 22, 2024, the Oral and Dental Hospital of Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM USU) welcomed a visit from an Assessor Team from the Ministry of Health and professional organizations for a Field Verification as part of the process to be designated as a Teaching Hospital. The visit aimed to ensure that RSGM USU meets the standards required to serve as a Teaching Hospital that supports dental education.
The Assessor Team consisted of five members: three representatives from the Ministry of Health—Dr. Else Mutiara Sihotang, Sp.PK, Drg. Christiana Eka Nartiawaty Hendarjudani, M.Kes, and Fajar Agung Nugroho, S.H., are two heads of professional organizations—Prof. Drg. Suryono, S.H., MM., Ph.D. (Chair of AFDOKGI) and Dr. Drg. Yulita Hendrartini, M.Kes, AAK (Chair of ARSGMPI).
The event was attended by several key figures, including USU Vice Rector for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A.; RSGM USU Supervisory Board Chair and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K); Drg. Saidina Hamzah Dalimunthe, Sp. Perio(K); and Drg. Meriah Ukur Sembiring. Also present was the Director of RSGM USU, Drg. Siti Salmiah, Sp.KGA., Subsp.KKA(K); Vice Director Drg. Ranu Putra Armidin, MKM, along with the FKG USU Dean’s Team, all Heads of Departments and Units at RSGM USU, Heads of Medical Staff Groups, and the Chair of the Medical Committee.
The verification included a comprehensive evaluation of the hospital’s facilities, education system, healthcare services, and management practices. This process is expected to solidify RSGM USU’s status as a Teaching Hospital and further strengthen its alignment with educational, research, and healthcare service activities.
