The meeting took place in the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Dentistry, USU, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, and marked an initial step toward establishing a sustainable partnership between the two institutions.

The delegation from the North Sumatra Regional Board of IKORTI, led by its Chair, drg. Teguh Aryo Nugroho, Sp.Ort., was warmly received by the leadership of FDS USU. Those in attendance included:

  • Dean of FDS USU: Dr. drg. Gema Nazri Yanti, M.Kes.
  • Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni: Dr. drg. Ika Andryas, M.Sc.
  • Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Assets: Dr. drg. Ahyar Riza, Sp.B.M.M.F., Subsp.C.O.M.F.
  • Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Internationalization: Dr. drg. Aini Hariyani Nasution, Sp.Perio., Subsp.R.P.I.D.(K).
  • Head of the Professional Dental Education Program (PSPPDG): drg. Kholidina Imanda Harahap, M.DSc.

The discussion was conducted in a warm and collaborative atmosphere, with both parties exploring opportunities for future cooperation, particularly in advancing education and professional development in the field of orthodontics.

The proposed collaboration is expected to provide meaningful benefits for the FDS USU academic community.

The Dean of FDS USU expressed appreciation for IKORTI North Sumatra’s visit and welcomed the initiative to strengthen collaboration. She reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to expanding partnerships with professional organizations to support academic excellence and institutional development.

This initiative aligns with the Faculty of Dentistry’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening the quality of higher education, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between academic institutions and professional organizations to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Through this meeting, FDS USU and IKORTI North Sumatra hope to realize collaborative programs that make meaningful contributions to the advancement of orthodontic science, education, and professional practice.
