The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) once again showed its commitment to developing student competence by sending 20 students to participate in the Dental Summer Course UGM 2024. The event, organized by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), occurred from 15 to 21 July 2024.

Dental Summer Course UGM 2024 is one of the flagship programs that attracts participants from various universities throughout Indonesia. This activity is designed to enrich students' knowledge and skills in dentistry through lecture sessions, workshops, and discussions with experts.

In this activity, participants from FKG USU could interact and share knowledge with their peers from other universities. They also had the opportunity to learn about the latest technology and innovative approaches in dentistry.

Vice Dean I of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Olivia Avriyanti Hanafiah Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.C.O.M. (K), said participating in events such as the Dental Summer Course is crucial to broadening students' horizons and experience. “We are proud to be able to send our students to such a prestigious event. It is an opportunity for them to learn from the best and bring new knowledge back to USU,” he said.

In addition to the academic sessions, the program also included visits to various medical facilities and laboratories in Yogyakarta, which gave the students a first-hand look at the practice of dentistry in various clinical settings.

FKG USU students' participation in the Dental Summer Course UGM 2024 is expected to improve their quality and competence in facing challenges in dentistry. With the knowledge and experience gained, these students are expected to contribute more to the development of dentistry at the local and national levels.
