Pancur Gading, 14/10 - The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) organized the 2023 Planning and Development Meeting (Musrenbang). This event took place in the beautiful area of Pancur Gading and lasted for two days, from October 13 to 14, 2023.
Musrenbang is an annual event that serves as a forum for teaching staff, education personnel, students, and other related parties to formulate plans for FKG USU's future development. This event aims to ensure that the Faculty of Dentistry's vision and mission remain relevant and in accordance with the latest developments in the world of dentistry.
In the event's opening, the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA(K), delivered her inspirational speech. She underlined the importance of collaboration and teamwork in designing a better future for FKG USU. “Musrenbang is an important moment for us to jointly reflect, plan, and commit to face new challenges in dentistry,” said Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA(K).
The event was attended by lecturers, researchers, education staff, and students of FKG USU. They were all involved in discussions and presentations highlighting several main topics, including improving education quality, research, community service, and developing facilities and infrastructure.
The Musrenbang participants also discussed using the latest technology in dental education, including introducing the newest technology in dental diagnosis and treatment. FKG USU is making this effort to ensure that students receive an education that is always up-to-date and in line with scientific developments.
One of the Musrenbang participants, said, “I am thrilled to be able to participate in this year's Musrenbang. It allows us to discuss the changes we want and find solutions together. All of this will bring about positive changes in our curriculum.”
At the end of the event, a concrete action plan was drawn up that will be implemented in the coming years to realize the vision and mission of FKG USU. This plan includes updating the curriculum, improving laboratory and clinical facilities, and developing research and community service.
The Dean of FKG USU, stated, “This year's Musrenbang is a very important first step in our journey towards a more superior and relevant dentistry. With our commitment and cooperation, I am sure that FKG USU will continue to grow and positively impact society.”
The 2023 Musrenbang event is clear evidence that the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universitas Sumatera Utara always strives to be the best and contribute to improving the quality of dental health services in Indonesia.
