MEDAN – Dompet Dhuafa Waspada grants achievement aid to 4 outstanding students at Faculty of Dentistry USU, Thursday (2/2).
The Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Sulaiman, symbolically handed over this scholarship assistance to Vice Dean I of FKG USU Dr. drg. Olivia Avriyanti Hanafiah, Sp. BM(K) in Nazir Alwi Hall. To Dompet Dhuafa Waspada, drg. Olivia expressed her gratitude for the aid given to FKG USU students.
"As at the beginning, we proposed our students who had difficulty completing their studies because of the cost, Thank God, four people were selected based on the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada selection," she said, quoted from a written statement.
Furthermore, drg. Olivia said that her party hopes that FKG USU students who are constrained by costs can achieve scholarships from Dompet Dhuafa Waspada in the future.
"Because completing studies in dentistry requires a lot of money, starting from undergraduate education to profession, we hope this can continue," said drg. Olivia.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada branch also said there was an opportunity to continue the scholarship.
"Dompet Dhuafa Waspada provides this scholarship opportunity onwards to USU students with a quota of 10 people per year at the beginning," said Sulaiman.
He also expressed his hope that the number of quotas could increase. "If there is an increase in auto-debit zakat from USU lecturers channeled through Dompet Dhuafa Waspada, there will be more and more students who can be assisted from the zakat funds," he hoped.
It is known at this time that USU lecturers participate in distributing their zakat through Dompet Dhuafa Waspada through the auto-debit program, which is deducted every month.
Regarding this scholarship assistance, Sulaiman conveyed his hopes to the beneficiaries.
"Hopefully, this aid can lighten a bit of the burden on younger students, and of course, it will increase their enthusiasm to complete their studies," he said.
Juli Hafriyanti Dalimunthe, a scholarship recipient, was present when the handover took place. She admitted that she did not expect to receive this aid.
"In the middle of completing this study, I thought hard about how to ask for more money to pay for my study fees while my parents were only retirees in the village," she said.
Juli also thanked her for the help she received. "Through Dompet Dhuafa Waspada, it turns out that Allah has sent the aid, thanks to the lecturers who have been extensions of the scholarships, and thank you, Dompet Dhuafa Waspada, may you always be blessed," she concluded.
