During National Dental Health Month (BKGN), held at the Dental and Oral Hospital of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM FKG USU), educational activities regarding oral health became one of the main highlights. Held from October 2 to 4, 2024, the event dedicated special attention to elementary school children through activities on how to brush their teeth properly and topical fluoride application.
In this educational session, the children were directly guided by experts and students of FKG USU to practice the correct brushing technique, which is very important in maintaining dental hygiene from an early age. In addition, the activity continued with the Topical Application of Fluorine (TAF) administration, which aims to prevent the risk of caries in children. Topical fluoride works by strengthening tooth enamel to be more resistant to the attack of bacteria that cause cavities.
This activity received full support from various parties, including doctors, students, medical staff, and parents who attended and participated. Thank you to all who have supported the success of this educational event, which is a positive step in increasing oral health awareness in children from an early age.
Through continuous education like this, it is hoped that more children will understand the importance of maintaining oral health to avoid various health problems.
