Nineteen dentists who graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) have participated in debriefing and release activities to undergo internship period 4. This activity was held as the first step towards professionalism in dentistry. Before entering this stage, the young dentists gained an in-depth understanding and broad insight through a series of debriefings conducted on November 16-18, 2023, at Grand City Hall Medan.
This debriefing activity was initiated by the government through the Health Office together with the Indonesian Dentists Association (PDGI) by presenting speakers who are very competent in their fields. One of the main speakers was drg. Andriani, Sp. Orth, FICD, is an orthodontist and fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD) fellow. With her experience and expertise, drg. Andriani provided in-depth insight into the latest developments in the field of orthodontics as well as practical views on the challenges and opportunities in dental practice.
The three-day debriefing involved theoretical sessions and allowed participants to engage in discussions, case studies, and practical simulations. The young dentists were invited to actively participate, ask questions, and share experiences with fellow participants. This aims to improve interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills integrated into providing quality dental health services.
A solemn official release session was held at the end of the debriefing activity. This release is a historic moment for young dentists, a sign that they are ready to undergo the challenges and responsibilities of dental practitioners. The release ceremony was attended by the dean of FKG USU, representatives from PDGI, and the families of the young dentists, who also supported them on this journey.
In his speech, the dean of FKG USU expressed his pride and optimism for the achievements of the graduating dentists. He also emphasized the importance of ethics and integrity in providing high-quality dental health services. Representatives from PDGI affirmed the organization's commitment to supporting the career development of young dentists and appreciated their dedication to continuing to learn and develop.
The graduating dentists of FKG USU who have undergone this debriefing and release are now ready to step into the period four internship phase with solid knowledge and skills. They are expected to contribute positively to improving dental health services in the community and continue to develop themselves in the face of the dynamics of the ever-evolving world of dentistry.
