On February 28, 2023, the dean and delegation of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), visited the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in Kuala Lumpur. The FKG USU delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Ahmad Dzulfikar Samsudin, the Deputy Dean for Academic and International Affairs, Dr. Faizah Abdul Fattah, and other faculty members.
The visit's main objective was to establish a collaboration between the two faculties in the areas of the Tri Dharma (education, research, and community service). During the meeting, it was agreed that lecturers from USIM should be invited to teach at FKG USU and vice versa. Additionally, student exchange programs and international research collaboration will be explored.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the collaboration will be signed soon, with the contents already agreed upon by both parties. During the visit, the FKG USU delegation was also greeted by USIM faculty member Prof. Emeritus Dato' Dr. Wan Mohamad Nasir Wan Othman, an alumnus of USU from the first batch. He was recently appointed director of the USU Alumni Association for the Faculty of Dentistry in Malaysia on February 26, 2023. Prof. Dato' Dr. Wan Mohamad Nasir expressed his full support for the collaboration, which may begin with undergraduate student programs.
