Medan, 4 November 2022 – The bazaar at the 61st Dies Natalis of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), was officially opened by Dr. Essie Octiara, drg., Sp.KGA (Dean of FKG USU) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the FKG USU parking lot. Accompanying her was the chairperson of the 61st Dies Natalis committee, Drg. Ranu Putra Armidin, M.KM, along with representatives of teaching staff.
Various departments and programs of FKG USU set up creatively designed booths that showcased their unique identities. Participants enhanced their stalls with creative decorations, such as scarecrow dolls, and even coordinated costumes representing their respective departments and programs. For instance, the Master’s and Doctoral programs named their booth “Warung ES2 and ES3,” a clever play on their program abbreviations. Despite a brief rain, booth operators continued serving visitors with enthusiasm.
The bazaar attracted not only FKG USU students and faculty members but also visitors from other faculties, such as FISIP, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Technology. Ifa, a student from FISIP, shared her excitement: “This event is great, with lots of delicious food. It's so fun that I'll come again and bring my friends from FISIP.”
The stage performances drew significant attention, adding to the excitement. The program began with Indah Akila, who performed two songs that captivated the audience. A special performance by educator Priska Utami, singing dangdut hits, energized the crowd, prompting many to dance together in front of the stage.
Later, a group of energetic student dancers from FKG USU further lit up the event, drawing applause and cheers. The highlight of the evening was a special appearance by Vice Dean II, Rini Octavia Nasution, drg., S.H., M.Kes., Sp.Perio(K). She wowed the audience with her rendition of hits by the duo Ratu, including Mahluk Tuhan yang Paling Seksi and Wonder Woman. Despite the rain, the crowd enthusiastically sang and danced along, creating a memorable moment for everyone involved.
