The Doctoral Program in Dental Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU), held a Doctoral Promotion Examination on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the IMT-GT Room, 2nd Floor, USU Rectorate Building.
Promovenda Astrid Yudhit completed the examination and officially earned her doctoral degree, adding another doctoral graduate to the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Her achievement is expected to inspire and motivate the academic community to continue producing outstanding doctoral graduates in the field of dental sciences.
The Doctoral Promotion Examination was opened and chaired by the Vice Rector IV of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., M.M.IT. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, USU, Dr. drg. Gema Nazri Yanti, M.Kes., and the Head of the Doctoral Program in Dental Sciences, Prof. Dr. drg. Ameta Primasari, MDSc., M.Kes., Sp.PMM.
The examination was led by Prof. drg. Sondang Pintauli, Ph.D., FISDPH., FISPD. as Promotor. Prof. Dr. drg. Ellyza Herda, M.Si. from Universitas Indonesia served as Co-Promotor I, while Dr. Aminah Dalimunthe, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. served as Co-Promotor II.
The examination panel consisted of Prof. Saharman Gea, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. as Examiner I, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA.(K) as Examiner II, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Widya Lestari from International Islamic University Malaysia as Examiner III.

Dr. Astrid Yudhit's dissertation, “The Effectiveness of Barangan Banana (Musa acuminata Colla) Peel Nanoparticle Paste as an Antibacterial and Remineralization Agent for Dental Hard Tissues,” highlights research on the potential application of banana peel-derived nanoparticles in supporting oral health and the preservation of dental hard tissues.
