Clinical student activities at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) are carried out with a hybrid system during the COVID-19 pandemic, which combines online and offline methods. This program was held by the FKG and the USU Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) to ensure that clinical student learning activities continue, so that they can qualify as dentists even in pandemic conditions.

This hybrid program runs smoothly and according to procedure. Online activities include virtual discussions through Zoom meetings and paper seminars. Although offline activities are still limited, clinical students can work on phantom cases and apply them to patients by complying with strict health protocols, including using level 3 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by the Faculty of Dentistry and RSGM USU.

Strict health protocols are implemented in the FKG and RSGM USU environment, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands by providing hand sanitizers in every corner of the room. In addition, clinical students who treat patients have been vaccinated at least twice and perform antigen swabs before performing patient care procedures.

By implementing a hybrid system and strict health protocols, the Faculty of Dentistry and RSGM USU strive to ensure the safety and smooth running of the teaching and learning process and patient services during the pandemic.
