Medan, November 26, 2023 - The Nazir Alwi Room, Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), witnessed the presence of several FKG USU alumni at the Alumni Talk held on November 26, 2023. This activity was attended by various groups, including the Regent of Padang Lawas, who is also an alumnus of FKG USU class 94.
The event was enthusiastic and opened by Vice Dean I of the USU Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Drg. Olivia Avriyanti Hanafiah, Sp.BMM.COM (K). In her speech, Dr. Olivia expressed her pride in the achievements of FKG USU alumni who have succeeded in various fields. “We are proud to see the success and contributions that our alumni have made. They are the real proof of the quality of education provided by FKG USU,” said Dr. Olivia.
The highlight of this event was the presence of the Regent of Padang Lawas drg. H. Ahmad Zarnawi Pasaribu, C.Ht., M.M., M.Si., M.H, also an FKG USU class 94 alumnus. He was present as the main speaker, providing inspiration and insight into his life journey from college to becoming a successful politician.
In his presentation, the Regent of Padang Lawas shared his life experiences since college. “My life journey is full of challenges, but it is all part of the process towards success. I learned a lot from my experience at FKG USU, both in academic and social life,” he said enthusiastically.
The FKG USU class 94 alumnus also shared his professional journey, including the challenges and crucial decisions he has made. One of the most memorable moments he shared was his decision to enter politics. “I decided to ‘jump the fence’ and enter politics to contribute more to society. Even though it was hard, it was my choice to bring about change,” she explained.
The event also served as an interactive forum where participants could ask questions directly to the Regent of Padang Lawas. The discussion was lively, with questions about challenges, successes, and advice for the younger generation.
At the end of the event, Dr. Olivia expressed her appreciation to the Regent of Padang Lawas and all USU FKG alumni who contributed to the success of this Alumni Talk event. “Hopefully, the inspirational story from the Regent of Padang Lawas can motivate USU FKG students to continue to strive and contribute positively in various fields,” she concluded.
FKG USU Alumni Talk 2023 successfully presented an atmosphere full of inspiration and enthusiasm, making this event a valuable momentum for students to achieve their dreams and design a glorious life journey.
