21 students graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) participated in the briefing and departure of the first batch of 2024 Indonesian Dentist Intership Program (PIDI) and Indonesian Dentist Intership Program (PIDGI) participants. This activity was held face-to-face (offline) at the Radisson Hotel Medan, Jalan H. Adam Malik no. 5 Sekip, Medan, from February 22 to February 24, 2024.

This debriefing activity is an important moment for participants to prepare themselves to face challenges in the implementation of the Intersive Program. In order to create and provide knowledge in the activity, participants were given an in-depth understanding of the needs and challenges in dental practice in the area.

Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA, Subsp.PKOA(K), Dean of FKG USU, attended this activity to provide direction and motivation to the participants. She also represented the Indonesian Faculty of Dentistry Association (AFDOKGI) in giving full support to this debriefing program.

One of the important points in this activity was the placement of 21 students who graduated from the USU FKG in the North Sumatra region. From a total of 40 students who received placements, their presence is expected to strengthen dental health services in the area and help reach people in need.

Participants were given a variety of materials and training covering clinical, managerial, and social aspects of dental practice. They were also invited to understand their roles and responsibilities as agents of change in improving public dental health.

In addition, discussion sessions and experience sharing between participants also became a valuable part of this briefing. This allowed the participants to exchange information, expand their professional network, and build sustainable collaboration in dental practice in North Sumatra.

With the enthusiasm and knowledge they have, it is hoped that the PIDI and PIDGI participants of the first batch of 2024 will be able to become the front guard in improving the dental health of the people of North Sumatra. This activity is not only about technical briefing, but also about building commitment to provide the best service for all levels of society.

The debriefing of PIDI and PIDGI participants is an important milestone in the effort to improve the quality of dental health services in North Sumatra. Full support from various parties, including FKG USU and AFDOKGI, is expected to have a significant positive impact on the development of dentistry in the region.
