Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held its Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) on Monday, September 5, 2022. Themed "Stepping Beyond Limits," the event took place at USU’s Mini Stadium and was attended by approximately 7,800 new students from all faculties. The Rector, along with other university officials, and a guest star who is an alumnus of USU, were also present.
The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG USU) welcomed 158 new students for the 2022 cohort this year. After the main event at the Mini Stadium, students were directed to their respective faculties, accompanied by committee members from their faculty and members of the Student Regiment (Resimen Mahasiswa). At FKG USU, the Nazir Alwi multifunction hall served as the gathering point for its new students.
Participants engaged in various sessions prepared by the committee, including introductory presentations about the campus delivered by FKG USU faculty members.
The first day of PKKMB at the faculty level began at 11:30 AM, with an opening speech by the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. Essie Octiara, drg., Sp. KGA. Sessions from two speakers followed this:
Nevi Yanti, drg., M.Kes., Sp. KG(K), who delivered material on Fostering National Identity and Awareness and State Defense.
Kholidina Imanda Harahap, drg., MDSc, presented on Higher Education Systems in Indonesia and Learning at USU.
Additionally, Dr. Olivia Avriyanti Hanafiah, drg., Sp. BM(K), delivered faculty-specific material to the students.
USU’s student organizations also participated, with the Student Executive Board (PEMA FKG USU) providing insights into internal student organizations, and the Student Regiment (MENWA) conducting a Basic Discipline Development Training session.
The PKKMB activities spanned three days, from Monday, September 5, to Wednesday, September 7, 2022, concluding with the closing ceremony on the final day.
