Students of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of North Sumatra (FKG USU) once again showed their enthusiasm and commitment in broadening their horizons and international experience by joining the Outbound program to the Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand. This program is part of FKG USU's efforts to improve the quality of education and open up international collaboration opportunities for its students.
A group of outstanding Dentist Professional Education Study Program students attended the outbound program. Several supervisors accompanied them, ensuring the program ran smoothly and aligned with the academic objectives.
In his remarks, Vice Dean III of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Pitu Wulandari, S.Psi, Sp.Perio, Subsp.MP (K), stated that this program is one of the strategic steps to provide valuable learning experiences for students. “We hope that by participating in this program, students can expand their horizons, gain new knowledge, and build a strong international network,” she said.
The students were involved in various academic and non-academic activities during the program. They attended public lectures, seminars, and workshops organized by PSU's Faculty of Dentistry. They were also allowed to interact directly with students and teaching staff at PSU to exchange information and experiences related to dental practice.
Drg. Pitu Wulandari, Vice Dean III of FKG USU, who also attended the program, stated that this experience was valuable for the students. “We are very impressed with the hospitality and professionalism shown by PSU. Our students gained much new knowledge and valuable experience that they could not get in the country,” said Drg. Pitu.
In addition to academic activities, the program also included visits to several health facilities and laboratories at PSU. The students were invited to see firsthand how the latest technology and methods are used in dental practice. This visit provided a deep insight into international standards in dental health services.
Students participating in this outbound program admitted they were very enthusiastic and felt lucky to have this opportunity. “This was a great experience. We learned many new things and also got the opportunity to see how dentistry is developed in other countries,” said one of the students participating in the program.
The outbound program to PSU is expected to be the first step of many other international collaborations. FKG USU continues to be committed to providing the best for its students, including by opening up learning and collaboration opportunities at the international level.
With this program, FKG USU not only strengthens its position as an excellent educational institution at the national level but also proves its commitment to continue to develop and compete globally. Activities like this are expected to inspire and motivate other students to continue to excel and innovate in dentistry.
