The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a handover ceremony for 74 students of the Professional Program in Dentistry to the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM USU) as they begin their professional education during the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The ceremony took place at the Nazir Alwi Room, FKG USU, as part of the students’ preparation for their professional training in a hospital setting.

The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Director II of RSGM USU, Dr. drg. Teguh Aryo Nugroho, MDSc., Sp.Ort., Subsp.DDTK(K); Vice Dean I of FKG USU, Dr. drg. The handover marks an important stage in dental professional education, particularly in preparing students to develop their clinical competencies through practical experience in a healthcare setting. During their professional training at RSGM USU, students are expected to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their academic education while further developing their professional competence, communication skills, ethical conduct, and patient care abilities.

Through the synergy between FKG USU and RSGM USU, the professional education program is expected to be implemented in a structured, integrated manner and in accordance with established dental education standards. The activity also reflects FKG USU’s commitment to preparing competent, professional, and ethical future dentists who prioritize patient safety and the needs of the community.

This activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through strengthening the competencies of future healthcare professionals and contributing to improved oral and dental healthcare services, as well as SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the implementation of professional education integrated with clinical practice experience.
