Medan — The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, will once again host a Guest Lecture as part of its efforts to broaden academic perspectives and strengthen international academic networks. The event will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 09:00 to 10:00 WIB in the Nazir Alwi Room, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, featuring Prof. Dr. Rozita Hassan from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) as the speaker.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Rozita Hassan will deliver a lecture entitled “Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment as a Holistic Public Health Approach: Reducing Treatment Burden and Promoting Oral Health Equity.” The topic highlights the importance of an interceptive orthodontic approach as part of a public health strategy, particularly in reducing treatment burden and promoting equity in access to oral health and dental care services.

The activity is expected to provide a platform for sharing knowledge, experience, and perspectives between academics from Indonesia and Malaysia, while strengthening the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara's commitment to providing quality, inclusive, public health-oriented, and globally oriented dental education.

The activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, by supporting improved health and well-being through promotive and preventive approaches to oral health. SDG 4 – Quality Education is supported through knowledge and academic exchange with academics from international higher education institutions. SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals is advanced by strengthening international academic partnerships and networks between the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and higher education institutions in Malaysia.
